Farewell From the Editor
January 20, 2012
Dear Readers,
I write to you today with sad news. My term as Editor in Chief ends with this very issue. Due to unresolved financial and staffing matters, effective immediately, The RhyDin Post will be ceasing its publication efforts in RhyDin city and closing its downtown offices to the general public.
For several years, The RhyDin Post has been proud to be your go-to source for local news, editorials, sports, and gossip. We have been blessed with a diverse and imaginative staff whose endeavors have been selflessly immersed in an eager desire to serve the RhyDin public. Thus, with the end in sight, it seems only fitting that our final issue reflect the city's current events of the day. You may very well find our final issue unremarkable in its brevity, but we thought it only proper that we ended our project the way it began: About, to, and for the RhyDin citizens.
As Editor, my heart goes out not only to our writers and staff, but to those citizens. In my previous letter, I stated that our goals here at the Post have always been threefold: to entertain, to inform, and to inspire. But after witnessing tireless efforts by many of our readers to try and keep our project afloat, I must say that I am the one who is inspired. Your efforts and your contributions were truly heartening, and though in the end we were unsuccessful, we promise they were not wasted.
For the time being, The RhyDin Post staff will be disbanded and remain here in RhyDin. Our administrators will relocate to Earth, where we will continue to engage in efforts to restore and renew our project. You, RhyDin, have inspired me. I am not yet ready to give up, and I and many of us will continue to fight for what we believe in. Though this may be farewell, I am hopeful it will not be goodbye.
We are currently in the process of having our mail rerouted to Earth, but in the interim we will continue to accept letters locally.
I wish you best of luck, RhyDin, in all of your future endeavors. We appreciate the time you have given us over your morning coffee, during your dueling events, and among friends at the Red Dragon Inn. We appreciate the place you have given us in your lives and in your hearts, and we encourage you as a community to share that generosity with others. Moreover, we are happy to have witnessed what RhyDin has become during our time here, and we eagerly look forward to watching it grow and prosper into something even better.
Thank you, readers, for what you have given us. And until we meet again:
Stay sassy. Stay sporty.
And above all, stay RhyDin.
Best Wishes, Michael M. Twert Editor in Chief
