13 December 2017 at 9PM by the Eastern clock, the ground floor of the Observatory Complex will host the Create a Date auction. Don't be shy! Come out, strut your stuff, and have some fun for the benefit of Rhydin's youth and children's charities. A light supper, desserts, and beverages will be provided in the cafe.

Sign ups will be taken until the midnight before the auction. Your name and your plans for a date are all we need. Anyone willing, but unable to show for the live auction is asked to also provide a photograph for a silent auction. Silent bids will also be accepted until 8 PM ET on the day of the auction for anyone in the line up to count toward live bidding. No date ideas" No worries! Rhydin's business community has folks with some answers for that!

Showing up to fill out paperwork was not an easy endeavor for Ann, but she'd been hiding in her big empty house since she'd gone out bowling a few weeks ago, and she knew it was past time to put herself back out there and be social!

Once she convinced the people running this event that she was not a ghost, a wizard's illusion, or the sudden onset of auditory hallucinations, they were pretty nice to her. They gave her coffee while she filled out her form, and only gawked a little bit when the coffee cup floated through the air and eventually vanished. They even snapped a picture of her in front of the studio's nice interior brick wall!

Ann promised to treat her date to the finest pizza, nachos, and pitchers of cheap beer or HUGE fountain drinks at Starlane Bowling, and that she was fun-awful at the game, not awkward-awful. This would be followed by a trip across town to an all-night pinball museum, run by a grumpy old dwarf named Rufus out of his own massive garage. There wasn't a bar per se, but there were drinks in the fridge that Rufus didn't seem to mind them pilfering from, so long as some cash found its way into the donation box.

She also promised to put a bell around her wrist so her date wouldn't spend the evening talking to the empty space five feet to her left.

A video application for the auction arrived a few days before the event proper, with instructions to play it for the audience and a lengthy warning about how it was so incredibly awesome that they should have an ambulance standing by as "the ladies gunna faint, and maybe some of the dudes, too". There were no assurances that Bob himself would actually show; he'd skipped out last time, and had a history of being forgetful. Plus there was a real lack of neon, or so he assumed.

The tape opened on Bob and ran like the Old Spice commercials some years ago, except with terrible production quality and a good dozen mistakes. From time to time, various underpaid and apathetic goblins could be seen half-assing the costume and background changes.

Look again, the toppings are now Claire Gallows action figures. Anything is possible when your man is a 4th dimensional being and can bend the very fabric of the universe to his fuzzy will. I'm on a moon."

The winning bidder was expected to enjoy eating food, low gravity walks on strange moons, spaceships, cartoons, and possibly the genocide of the entire elfish race, but only if the date went really, really well.

"That's right, folks! We have The Empress, Jewell Ravenlock, offering herself up for a date to one of you lucky bidders. Now Jewell, where do you plan on taking whoever wins a date with you? What are you going to do together?"

"Wait...what? You want me to take them on a date" Oh no no no. That's not how this works. They all fight and pay up to take me on a date."

"Err...okay. So um...where would you prefer they take you then?"

"If I determine that they are not creepy, I may allow them to take me dancing."

"And if they are creepy?"

She smiled. "I'll probably break their hand if they get too close. I am number four on the IFL leader boards these days, you know."

One Kane Darkwing would sign up for the Date Auction hoping to help churn up a little more money for the various charities representing the children's homes and the other orphanages.
