Azjah stepped through the portal onto Twilight Isle slightly later than planned. The portal had been excessively reluctant to permit her passage for the last two days, and she was beginning to wonder why, but as she finally emerged from the portal, she was surprised to see RhyDin's governor there. "Good evening, Governor Simon."
She headed across the sand toward her chaise, greeting Topaz as she got settled in.
She had one team in the ring, but glanced at Matt as he sat nearby, "Governor" When might be a good time to come speak with you on a professional basis?" She'd been meaning to contact him at his office, but had not yet done so.
Matthew looked at her, "Door's always open. You can always pop by the Outback if you need to. Or, if you'd rather meet in the official office, you can schedule one there."
Azjah shook her head, "I would hate to bother you during your time off. It is business after all." The notion of discussing business at the Outback during his relaxation time seemed wrong to her. She smiled then, "How is Koy doing?"
"Eh, don't worry about it. Sometimes it's easier to talk out of that place." He told her. "She's doing fine, as much as a non-fighting Koy can be doing at any rate."
Azjah chuckled, Koy not in a ring seemed somehow wrong, but with no wards in the Outback, it was just not a good idea for her to be fighting there. Azjah smiled at Matthew, "Wonderful, I shall look forward to our meeting Governor." She pointedly used his title to let him know it was in an official capacity that she wanted to talk to him.
"Me too," he said, but was curious about why she wasn't giving him a hint at what the meeting's topic might be.
She winked at him then, "Defenses if you are curious." What she intended to propose was not really the kind of discussion one should have in public. Certainly not in terms of business smarts where a competitor or spy could be sitting next to you.
Matthew nodded, "Ah, right. Always a good topic."
Something in his tone had Azjah looking at him again, "My business here is weapons, but my business on Rigel is far more wide ranging. Perhaps we can discuss options?"
"I'm always up for a discussion." It was as neutral a response as he could come up with at that moment.
Azjah studied him a long moment, noting the neutrality of his reply, "So noted," she told him and thought the topic had been dropped.
Matthew remained near Azjah as he watched the active rings, almost as though waiting for more information.
Azjah glanced at him and spoke rather softly, "During our initial"...ah' meeting with your pilots, I noticed something interesting."
He grinned at her, "Just one thing?"
Azjah chuckled softly, "Well, more than one thing, but those interceptors are outdated for weapons. At least the ones that met us are." The sensors had told her what armaments were being aimed at her, and she was surprised at the aging equipment.
"Well, that's part of the down side of the operation as it stands. The RASG pilots bring their own ships and are responsible for them; the city doesn't have the funds to purchase new fighters for everyone. We cut a small subsidy, but that's all."
Azjah's pale blue gaze leveled on Matthew, "What about upgrades at cost?"
"I haven't found a supplier willing to do that. Besides, that's a lot of technology-types to keep up with. We'd need a lot of different suppliers I'd wager." He answered her as he set up his holographic emitter for a match he had garnered.
Azjah's brow rose fractionally, "Or someone with the right connections Governor." If she couldn't produce it, she had enough contacts to obtain it. Then he threw in an unexpected twist.
"Point taken. We need to do something similar with the ocean craft too." He never glanced her direction as he continued to set up the emitter, which when powered up produced a holographic image of Koy, who'd used his emitter the prior evening in the Tag Team tournament, which elicited a laugh from Azjah. Matthew looked up somewhat sheepishly, "Guess I forgot to reset this thing."
Azjah laughed, "Looks that way." Then she grew more thoughtful, "Ocean vessels as well" I had only been giving consideration to aerial craft."
"I want to start an RASG type program for the harbor and the outlying areas. The RASG isn't ideal to intercept ocean vessels. We can do it, but it's not as easy as it could be." Matthew commented between rounds.
Azjah nodded thoughtfully, "I see." Then she sent a goblin for her scotch. This information considerably altered her initial plans and she would need to do some re-calculation. "I'll work up some figures Governor, but it would help if I knew a little more about the oceanic sector.?
Matt thought about it for a moment, and then suggested that they meet two days hence and he would draw up some rough ideas for her to think about.
Azjah nodded and made plans to meet Matthew for further discussion.
