FIRE AND ICE WINTER FORMAL SETTING

The large indoor gymnasium of the Combat Annex at the Academy of Bristle Crios was decorated for the Fire and Ice Winter Formal.

For the beginning of the event, the room will be a warm, inviting, fire-scape. Each of the walls surrounding the perimeter of the room will have white fabric draped in specialty lighting simulating a roaring fire. The table treatments will consist of an acrylic table that is lit from beneath with similar lighting effects. Satin white table linen will be used to create the perfect palate for the under lighting and the soft chairs will be covered in white spandex to further accent the theme. On each table, a small flicking candle sits encased in a beautiful globe of ice.

After approximately 25 minutes of the warm "fire" environment, the lighting will begin a five minute transition period, ending in the cool "ice" appearance with cool colors on the walls and tables. At the end of the hour, the hot flamed theme will return over the course of another five minutes, and the lighting will continue its cycles every half hour until the end of the night. The small sound and lighting control stage will change its themes throughout the course of the evening as well, changing several times during the event.

Fireball Ping Pong Heat things up with a firey challenge. Pick up a flame proof paddle and whack a miniature fireball to your opponent in this table tennis game. Once fireballs exit the table zone, they will burn out safely.

Table Ice Hockey Play a round of traditional Table Hockey on real sheets of ice or play on our Stalagmite Slabs, which add an element of surprise to your game with small stalagmites that shoot up from the ice randomly to help dodge your hit.

Ice Sculptures and Castle

Taking a few members of mage house and students from the academy, Miranda helped lead the group to turn the stark walls of the combat annex into an ice castle. Shimmering in the colored flood lights in varying shades of blue to the delight of all those coming for the dance.

Littering the grounds around the castle are sculptures. A horse drawn carriage fit for royalty, people dancing, reindeer, old St. Nicholas and even a life size chess board for party goers to play with.

Coffee Slushie 3 pints half-and-half cream

3 cups cold brewed coffee

2 cups white sugar

2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Mix cream, coffee, sugar, and vanilla extract together in a freezer-safe container. Cover container and freeze until coffee mixture is solid, at least 3 hours. Remove container from freezer and defrost in room temperature for 1 hour. Break coffee mixture apart with a fork creating a slush-like consistency. Transfer to a punch bowl or large pitcher.

Red Slush Punch

3 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored Jell-O" mix

9 cups boiling water

4 cups sugar

9 cups water

2 (46 fluid ounce) cans pineapple juice

2 cups lemon juice

4 (2 liter) bottles ginger ale

In a large bowl, whisk together the strawberry gelatin mix and 9 cups of boiling water. Set aside. In a large pot, bring the remaining 9 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. Pour the sugar water into the gelatin water, then stir in the pineapple juice and lemon juice, mixing well. Pour into four 1-gallon size resealable freezer bags, or pretty Bundt pans to freeze. To make punch, place one of the frozen portions into a punch bowl, and pour 1 bottle of ginger ale over. Chocolate Lover's Hot Chocolate 2 1/2 cups milk

1/2 teaspoon brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon honey

3 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup milk

Heat 2 1/2 cups milk in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming, about 5 minutes. Stir in brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, and vanilla extract. Bring to boil and stir in cocoa powder. Remove from heat and add the remaining 1/2 cup milk. Return saucepan over heat and simmer until heated through, about 2 minutes more. Ladle into cups to serve. Peanut Buttercup Hot Chocolate 1 (1 ounce) envelope instant hot chocolate mix

2 teaspoons creamy peanut butter

In a mug, prepare chocolate mix as directed on package. Stir in 1 or 2 teaspoons peanut butter.

Not wishing to miss out on the first winter formal for the academy, Miranda selected a white dress with a blue floral print. Despite what most would think considering the theme of fire and ice, Miranda decided on white since it is the color of mourning for her culture. The sapphire jewelry accents and black shoes to match the waist belt of the dress. Hopefully no one would ask her to dance since her body is still healing.

The alchemist professor is now graced with crystal framed glasses with ruby lenses as well for vision trouble. Some gold wire wrapping in places to embellish the frames.
