Rose Moon Watchmen Ball

Join Bristle Crios in celebrating June's full moon on Sunday, June 23, 2013 to honor the Watch! 7-9pm PST (west coast), 10-12am EST (east coast), 3-5 am GMT (UK)

This Rose Moon is to honor the Watch and all that they do for the Rhy'din community. They put their lives on the line selflessly to try and make this world a better place. With this moon we are honoring those current and past of the Watch and their families. Donations will be taken for the Watch to for equipment, medical needs, support of the family should they lose their loved one. If you would like to make a donation for the Watch and Watch family members please list it with your outfit or contact Miranda Branson or Fiona O'Neill.

This will be the second annual Rose Moon event held by Bristle Crios. The full moon in June has many names. In Europe, it is called the Rose Moon, presenting the peak flowering season for roses. It is also called the Strawberry Moon because the Algonquin tribes in North America saw it as a signal to gather the ripening fruit since the short season for harvesting strawberries comes each year during the month of June. It is also known as the Honey Moon, since it begins the ideal time to begin gathering honey from the hive. Many weddings occur during the time round the Honey Moon in many cultures, and it is where the wedding honeymoon gets its name. Other names include: Lotus Moon by the Chinese, Moon When June Berries Are Ripe by the Sioux, and Moon of Horses by the Celtics. A taller hedge maze off to one corner with baskets filled with squishy hearts patterned like grenades is set aside for just that. Take off in the maze with arms full of hearts and take aim! The hearts will hit your target like a pillow and shower them in flower petals with a loud crack!

The culinary students of the Academy of Bristle Crios were assigned to complete a dish with the special ingredient of strawberries in honor of the strawberry harvest during Rose Moon. The following dishes are the winners with the highest scoring dish in their class.

Strawberry Dishes

Chipotle Salmon with Strawberry Mango Salsa " Grilled salmon fillets rubbed with a mixture of brown sugar, minced garlic cloves, finely chopped chipotle peppers, and salt. Topped with a fruit salsa of chopped strawberries, mango, red onion, lime juice, olive oil, and fresh cilantro and mint. Grilled Chicken Strawberry Salad " Grilled chicken placed on a bed of fresh lettuce with sliced strawberries, minced red onion, and pecans, drizzled with a sweet mustard dressing. Glazed Pork with Strawberry Couscous " Baked pork loin roast glazed with strawberry jam and orange juice. Served with couscous, cubed strawberries, and fresh mint. Blue Cheese Steak with Strawberry Chutney " Seasoned grilled steak topped with a sweet syrup coated strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry chutney with blue cheese crumbled on top. Strawberry Goat Cheese Bruschetta ? Grilled Italian bread spread with goat cheese, topped with cubed strawberries tossed in balsamic vinegar and garnished with fresh basil and thyme.

Drunken Strawberries

Strawberries that have been cleaned and soaked in vodka in an air tight container over night. Served in a martini glass with one shot of vodka.

Rose Lemonade

1 package of pink lemonade 2 cups rose water 2 cups lemon vodka clean and sliced strawberries

Mix the rose water, vodka and pink lemonade package together and chill. Serve in a double old fashioned glass with sliced strawberries floating on top and one cut in half on the rim of the glass.

Tickled Pink

1 oz of strawberry juice Chilled prosecco sparkling wine

Add the strawberry juice to a champagne glass and top with prosecco.

Skirt Chaser

1 oz 100 proof vodka 1 oz dark creme du cacao 1 oz rose tequila

In a double old fashion stir together the vodka and dark creme du cacao. In a shot glass pour the rose tequila and serve both glasses together. In one shot drink down the contents of the double old fashion and chase with the shot of rose tequila.

Silk Stocking

1.5 oz tequila 1.5 oz light cream 1 oz cr"me du cacao Dash of grenadine Sprinkle of cinnamon

In a shaker with ice add the tequila, cream, cr"me du cacao and grenadine and shake til well blended. Pour into a martini glass with a coco rimmer and sprinkle with cinnamon to serve.

Rose Moon

2 oz Nuvo 2 oz Hpnotiq Harmonie 2 oz pink lemonade

In a shaker with ice add Nuvo, Hpnotiq Harmonie and pink lemonade. Strain and serve in a stemless martini glass with a blackberry on the rimmer.

Wandering through the shops, a sweet little vintage store was found holding the perfect dress. A vintage Dior dress, Oscar de la Renta shoes and the jewelry inspired by the coming moon made by her own two hands.

Miranda had agreed that any watch member that needed forge work done she would do it for free. From basic repairs to custom creations.
