RhyDin Fashion Week Notes from RhyDin Wear Daily:

DRAMA AND DELAYS, DELAYS, DELAYS!

With the ongoing battle between the old guard and upcoming designers over every slight detail concerning Fashion Week's programming the entire schedule has been pushed back by a week. Keeping our manicured fingers crossed everyone can hold onto the peace for long enough to launch some much anticipated shows in New Haven's famed Mercer Park.

This year's theme is Motion & Madness - we've certainly seen plenty of the latter in this year's scheming....er....planning.

I"Yulna

Meaning "The Drink", the bar's original incarnation was in Old Town and was one of the best kept secrets of the Fae community in RhyDin. Originally, it was a place where only those of the blood could enter (or dared try to enter) and where the best drinks from the Lands could be found. Today, the best drinks from the Lands can still be found in I"Yulna, but the clientele is no longer limited to those of Fae blood. Anyone who wishes to is now welcome to enter the bar, which has recently been relocated to the Old Market neighborhood known as Little Elfhame.

The bar is attached to the building that houses Beyond the Veil (a speciality store owned by Jewell Ravenlock) and Faerie Fusion (a restaurant specializing in Faerie-RhyDin fusion food). The old and worn brick exterior is not interrupted by any windows, just a single wood door with a sign extending out into the street that reads: I"Yulna.

Most nights, there is only one person lingering outside the doors: a lone Elf, not dressed in the finery of velvet, silks, and lace of the realm but in clothes more befitting the modern trends in RhyDin. He played the role of non-descript bouncer, with the ability to remove someone from the doorway without even appearing to move at all himself. More often than not, he looked like he was dozing as he leaned casually back against the wall.

The inside of I"Yulna does not at all match with its outward appearance. Sheer size put aside—the immediate inside of the bar appears to take up at least five times the size it physically should—when people step through the door to enter I"Yulna, they find themselves outside. A cobblestone floor is slowly taken over by moss, grass, and ferns until it forms the soft carpet of a forest clearing. A starry night sky, graced by the moon of the Lands and not that of RhyDin, stretches overhead and the low murmur of people talking, occasionally laughing and singing, mingles in the air with sounds more befit a night in the woods. Trees grow intermittently here and there, some of species not usually found beyond the veil.

The only wall that exists is a crumbling brick wall standing directly behind a patron when they enter. It is perhaps the sole remains of a structure long gone, with a wooden door set within that served as both entrance and exit to this magical place. The trees that border the clearing become thicker and thicker, eventually leading off to who knows where. No one has ever admitted to exploring the woods within I"Yulna. Tables, couches, settees, and other such sitting arrangements are formed by the very elements found in the woods—trees, rocks, and even the ground beneath them—as if crafted by magic. The bar is of similar make, rock chiseled by magic not hands, and off to one side, surrounded by stone stools that are actually quite comfortable. The sound of water—a babbling brook, perhaps—emanates from further within the woods.

Perhaps the most enchanting part of I?Yulna is the people, gorgeous beyond belief even to those accustomed to the beauty that is hidden in the heart of the Faerie Lands. One can get lost in just watching them.

For tonight's Fashion Week kickoff, the theme "Motion & Madness" had not been taken lightly. Guests could be both delighted and careful not to get swept up in the antics of the Traveling Sioxia Flyers who brought a frenetic energy to the party at l'Yulna. They were joined by Trilin's Riders, a collective of stunt riders performing tricks on anything they could find with wheels.

DJ Shifter Talk commanded a booth that changed form at its base, making it appear as if he spun beats from the comfort of a cloud to the head of a giant serpent and a dozen wild shapes in between. The runway for the fashion show had been set up to elevate in squares to meet each model's step making it look as though the very runway was a living, moving creature among the bar's moss and grass.

Joe is a recent immegrent to Rhy'din, having been asked to come here by Andu Kirost to set up his business, Joe's Motorpool, in support ofthe local Authorities and citizens. All of Joe's vehicles are electric, though each also has a bit of magic embedded in it to compansate for those areas of town that are "hostile" to technology. Vehicles powered by alternative fuel sources are available.

Lucy tried to arrive at the event site in time for Kitchy Kando, but she missed it. Since her release from prison, she was still getting used to the routine of everyday life, and things seemed to take her longer than she expected. Instead, she arrived in time for the Abroad in Adenna Exhibition Opening, before returning to the Main Tent.

She enjoyed the Muziak & Co. show from an out-of-the-way seat towards the back, and slipped out as soon as the show was over, having had more than enough activity for the day.

The founders of the Benson Boulevard Initiative, Graham and Esther Hart, Kyle Levy, Oblinn Lyrana, Daven Mallie, Leigh Mayazuki, Nicole Neese, Koyliak VanDuran-Simon, Gerard Smith, Lillian Smythe, Amador Sui, Jess Vincent, and Sonia Williams, would all be in attendance at both scheduled shows for the day (with Gerard dashing off at the end of Brix in Babel to see to last minute details of his own show at 4pm).

The Initiative's founders included not only the old guard of Fashion Week designers but the city's leading fashion magazine editors and industry patrons. Several of the founders had been rubbed the wrong way in the weeks leading up to Fashion Week by Brix and his alliance of new designers. Though they could not deny the flashes of genius, if at times overly ambitious and rushed, in Brix's designs at today's show, there were many plastic smiles in place as they whispered critiques of the brash designer's work.

Wednesday, March 18th The Remmington Collection 2 PM " Main Tent Head Designer: Vicki Remmington Featuring: Weddings by Miranda, Tra"elsa Bloom, Zinz 5

A designer in her own right, Miranda wore a dress of her own design to the event, on hand to mix and mingle with both those in the industry and those who were guests. She had a few business cards handy, in case anyone was interested in her own collection, though these days she focused mainly on bridal fashions.

In a few days, she would feature her own line, but today she was there to help promote that of a fellow designer, Vicki Remmington, and she was thrilled to be able to do so.

Zofie arrived at the Rise and Shine seminar looking as if she'd watched the sun set and rise the night before, with arms still a bit sore from the new tattoos she sported on the backs of them. When asked, she'd deflect to talk about the craftsmanship of them and stuff her face with danish while listening to Koy give her presentation.

Too much to do, too little time. She was going to try and make as many events as she could this week. Mostly this was a local vacation for her and her shopaholic friends ....you know, the ones that made her leave the cave and start wearing shoes? Yeah, those friends. Besides, all the hard work that went into this, she was NOT going to let go to waste. Time to Network and Socialize!

Lucy's insistence on sitting in the back finally paid off today when she realized that she had misread the schedule and discovered that the Main Tent event for the Remmington Collection was featuring wedding fashions. As soon as the first model completed her walk, Lucy quietly slipped out the back, and decided to call it a day.

Jewell dragged herself out of bed early for the Rise and Shine: Breakfast & Beauty Tips (8:30 AM) where she would avoid having lengthy conversations with any of her friends in attendance. Then she needed a nap, which caused her to miss the other shows.

Eva was in attendance at the Rise and Shine: Breakfast & Beauty Tips event, wearing an outfit of no particular note, mostly to support her friends, but maybe also to get some tips from Koy about how to use makeup to cover-up bruises.

At the end of the event, she waited around, hoping to catch Eless alone to see how she's doing.

Dragging himself out of his drunken stupor from the green beer drinking holiday, Mach attended the How To Dress Like A Man: A Crash Course in Menswear Fashions at The Highlife Haberdashery. The tips he came away with were simple:

- Lose the suspenders unless being ironic - Dear gods where did you find such orange pants!?! For all that is good and decent burn those. - Your shirts should fit well. And they should accentuate your build. - And lastly accessories are good with classy watches, necklaces, and rings but less with carry all belts and guns.

Throughout the day Thorn worked the crowd and passersby at Mai's pop-up shoppe.

Her smile was brightly warm and shaded with all those promises made in the whisper of silk over skin, and she shared it out freely. With each change, she offered roses from the bouquets she carried. By the end of her turns, everyone in the crowd had one no matter who they were.

The way she moved was equal parts promise and tease, utterly confident in her femininity without shame or fear.

Jewell couldn't miss the Millie & Mallie Runway Show (3 PM); she needed to check out Koy's new designs for the year so she would know what to buy later, and she also had an invite to sit next to the Fashionista. Jewell would tell Koy to expect to see her and Kal at the Heavenly Boutique soon since the half-elf had to take her shopping after losing a bet. After the Mille & Malle show, Jewell did a quick stop at the Silverblood Lines Pop-Up Shop before resting her sore feet before she had to work that night.

For once, Zofie actually seemed well rested and without a hangover to nurse! She started off at the textile showroom, usually gaining weird looks about her questions regarding the fabrics. After an hour break to eat an entire yak at the Smokin' Crater Barbecue Joint, she skedaddled to the Make-Up Artist Expo, for some surprisingly good tips on makeup and color balance when using unconventional lighting.
