The second conference room floor of the observatory complex was lit up by eight in the morning. A light breakfast had been catered by Ariana's Divine Delights. Croissants, muffins, and a breakfast taco bar along were featured. Tea, coffee, and other nonalcoholic beverages were available.

She had laid out a brochure of the Old Market West Side Emergency Services and Urgent Care Center. The project had been a successful one in Old Market and she hoped to bring the same services to each district. Collie requested location suggestions from those that came by. Battlefield Park had plenty of space, but it was also known for wandering spirits. There was space near the old Rhydin Cemetery, but somehow, it just didn't seem right to have a place meant to bring help and healing near the resting place of the dead.

She sat with several people and answered questions, some related to the campaign, some not. There was one subject, however, she declined to discuss.

((Colleen will be at the ROC in Dragon's Gate, every morning this week to answer questions from the citizenry. Have a character, group, etc. with questions" This is where they can get answers. Have fun!))

Hi, yes, Colleen, over here. Name's Bob. Maybe you know me, maybe you don't. I'm only rich and baller as fuck and all. I have a question:

What are your thoughts on the elf problem, and do you have any solutions for it planned out' If not, why not'

Thanks. Appreciate you giving us your time and breakfast tacos.

Colleen raised a brow and tucked a lock hair behind a gently pointed ear.

"Well, Bob, precisely which elf problem do you mean' Keep in mind that there are several species of elves living in Rhydin along with other beings that look like elves, but are not. Then there are half bloods. If you're talking about whether or not I have plans to deport any given racial group from the city, the answer is no. All citizens, regardless of their race, gender, religious views, etc. should be able to live in peace. By living in peace, I mean living their lives in such a way as to do no harm to others."

Narisa was glad to hear that at least one of the candidates was advocating for the Emergency Services program, something that was very dear to her heart since she signed up with the Rhydin Fire Brigade at Dragon's Gate. "We have plenty of space in the station building to expand, since about half of it is pretty much empty now, just used for city storage."

"What do you think about running a series of disaster prep courses, either through the fire stations or the schools? Heaven knows this city has had more than its share of diverse disturbances over the years."

"I think it's a very good idea. As you probably know, Johnny Storm runs a Fire Prevention Week program every year; it's a very helpful program. Unfortunately, as you've pointed out, fires aren't the only disaster that have an effect on the city. Little by little services are growing to accommodate the needs of Rhydin's citizens such as offering first aid courses that include CPR. The one hitch those classes depend on is being able get to person in need of help. In some parts of the city, waiting on the already trained volunteers and professionals takes time. Please don't misunderstand, Narisa, I'm not, what is it the younger folk say, dissing those working in Emergency Services. They do a fine job, but they can always make use of more and better equipment and more willing people to help."

She took a drink from her glass of tea and took a breath.

"I got a bit verbose, but I hope that answers your question."

If you are elected governor, do you plan on holding monthly town meetings?

As a local zombie business owner I would like to see more programs catering to the undead trying to find a place in society.

What is your position on creating social programs to help the undead become productive tax paying citizens?

"Hello, Shy. I don't plan on having monthly town meetings. I do, however, plan on having open sessions at the town hall for people to air their grievances, share their thoughts on improvements needed in the city, present their ideas for solutions, and request volunteer support for upcoming events and holidays, etc." She paused a moment to gather her thoughts. "I am open to the creation of a city council."

"Mr. Cross, isn't it?" She was sure she'd met him or heard of him at some point. "As I have said in the past, I believe all citizens have a right to live in peace." She made air quotes as she said the word, live. "I must admit to some ignorance on the subject of the undead and how they go about their daily activities. If you and others with more knowledge than I've got could help me learn what is needed then I would be able begin to be fill those needs through social programs or other means. For instance, there are some undead employees working at West Side clinic in Old Market. On their advice, a supply of blood and plasma is kept on hand specifically for vampires. Much like other beings, if someone is hungry, they aren't going to be at their best." Collie held up her index finger in a 'just a minute' gesture as she looked over a list of notes. "Recently, underground quarters were created to help house undead youth in the city. Teens have a hard enough time coping with puberty let alone being undead whether they came into the world that way or were turned."

Though she hadn't put herself up, Thorn was still paying attention, still interested in those who had. When she found Collie taking questions, she listened to those around her while composing her own.

"In the event that you don't win the election, will you continue to work for the betterment of all Rhy'din's citizens"

"Collie how will you handle the Small Business Fund" True, it's been a while since the Market Place was blown up or just torn to hell, but....Just because it's quiet, doesn't mean it'll stay that way. "Also, what are your thoughts on better training for the Watch through the rougher, harsher areas" The Slums, places in the WestEnd, etc" Do you support trained Neighborhood Watches, or not so much?"

"An excellent question, Thorn! I'll continue to lend support to the community as I always have. While the MacLeod Foundation tends to not publicly disclose the grant amounts donated to various groups in the city, we support the arts, educational funding, health care, and emergency services projects. In particular, we fund several projects for the children and youth of Rhydin. We fund activities and classes at the Observatory Complex and Botanical Gardens. For instance, one of programs started this past spring on part of the grounds of the gardens is a community garden. Several families and individuals took part. They were able sell any surplus in the Marketplace and use the money for other things needed for their household. Win or lose the election, my family and I will continue to support these and other projects."

She took a sip of her tea as she considered her next response. "I don't have a lot of experience with the Small Business Fund and how it is meant to operate. However, I would do my best to make sure those needing help with reconstruction of a building damaged due to natural or other disasters get the funding to take care of it. Those with solid ideas for starting new business ought to get their share as well. I would have to review the criteria for the latter. While many people have fantastic ideas, they often don't set things down in a business plan as to how they will accomplish their goals. I don't know if it has been done before, but I think the people with a core idea, but no solid plan in place, should be able to get help with putting their ideas into a marketable project. That help could become part of the Small Business Fund if it isn't already."

"One of the primary goals I have is to build new or additional emergency services facilities throughout the city. The Old Temple and Old Market districts have the lion's share and it's time the others were brought up to speed. That I know of, the other districts have at least one fire brigade and one Watch Station; often in the same place. I support better training and better equipment for the Watch as a whole. This is not to say the Watch is badly trained. Sometimes, they end up in places or situations they simply weren't trained to cope with or don't have the equipment they need to handle things. Some of the areas have equipment that is so antiquated that it looks like it was put together with duct tape, string, and couple of tin cans. Bottom line is that having better equipment and being better prepared can save lives no matter what part of the city they go in."

"I do support neighborhoods being able to have trained Neighborhood Watch groups. Some people shouldn't be part of those organizations, so, a screening process of some kind should be in place. Much of the citizenry is always armed in some manner, but sometimes the best answer is stun someone and run for help. That is one of the things my daughter teaches her youngest students. The Neighborhood Watch group training courses could be set up with the city services. Some of the fire stations and urgent care centers have first aid and CPR classes already in place. I doubt it would be difficult to create a new program with those as the basics."
