Citizens of RhyDin,

It is the great honor of the Waterhouse Accounting Firm to have been chosen by the current administration to act as an independent advisory committee in order to safe guard the upcoming election for the Governor of RhyDin. We take great pride in the trust that the current governor, Matthew Simon, has placed in our firm and our excited to assist our fellow citizens in choosing a new leader for this grand city!

We have put together the following time line for the 2009 election: - Candidates must announce their intentions to run by March 9, 11:59 pm RST. - If necessary, a primary to reduce the number of candidates will occur on March 22 (with early voting on March 20 and 21). - A live debate will be hosted by the Gossip GangSTAR, Marc Franco, on March 29 at 8:30 pm RST in the Red Dragon's Great Hall in a town hall style format. Participation is not required but it is strongly encouraged. - The election will be held on April 5 (with early voting on April 3 and 4).

Good luck to all the candidates!

((RST is based on ET. Everyone is welcome to participate but if you and your characters choose not to respect the authority or acknowledge the existence of a governor that is your right. Please send me a PM to confirm your nomination and I encourage you to post something announcing your character's candidacy on this board as well. Thank you!))

He pondered as he sat behind his desk. He placed the stack of papers back on the desk as he turned towards one of the view screens. He stroked his chin slightly then finally after a few minutes of reading the data, he stood up and locked the top clasp of his tunic in its place and picked up the stack of papers.

He left the tower as he did every morning, though instead of heading directly for the market or the Inn, he went downtown to the city office. He smiled a gentleman's smile at the clerk. "How can I help you, sir?" She asked in such a gentle way.

"I have here the paperwork to register for the Governor's race." He slipped the paperwork across the desk. "I would like to get these processed. I understand there is a fee?"

The clerk nodded, causing her hair to bob up and down. "Yes, sir. Please fill out this form and provide the fee at the bottom of the page."

He nodded and finished the last form she had asked for. He placed the payment on the top of it and slid it back to her, still smiling while auburn eyes looked her over like she was a piece of meat in a locker waiting to be picked up. "Thank you!" She said happily as she pulled it the rest of the way. As she looked it over and nodded, looking back up at him. "Thank you, Lord Travanix. We will begin processing this immediately."

Making his way towards the office where he needed to turned the papers in, to throw his name into the mix for the title of govenor. Papers had been filled out to the letter. He looked down at them then mused, just outside the office.

"This should be a load of fun, not like I'll win." He then shrugged and moved inside. Handing the papes over to the woman behind the desk. " Darkmere Alcar...I'm running for the govenor's office."

The woman nodded, before flashing him a smile. " Good luck!" The cloaked male shrugged, before moving off. It wouldn't be long till people found out. This was sure to be an interesting election.

The following letter would appear in various locations in Rhy'Din.

Dear people of Rhy'Din, For those that do not know me. I am Darkmere Alcar. I have been coming to Rhy'Din for years, and wish to inform everyone. That I am running for the office of govenor. If you wish to ask me questions. I am usually found at the inn. Feel free to come up to me.

The some seven foot tall blue K'neah walked in with the necessary papers under his arm. Silver eyes blinked this way and that as he neared the desk, making sure to keep his tail tucked in close, so as not to disturb anyone as his long lithe legs maneuvered him through the room.

"Hello," he said to the woman waiting at the desk, putting on a friendly and warm smile. "Krajiinkt Vakntah Kro'burst F'nakestah, pleased to meet you, I'll be running for governor," he said in perfect common, seems this one had mastered the language quickly.

The woman blinked and stared up at the very tall and blue man in front of her, and accepted the offered papers with a friendly, if somewhat tentative smile in return. "Please fill this form out, and provide payment for the fee, and we'll have you all set up from there."

Krajiinkt nodded slightly, then took the offered pen and form in a long fingered hand, then scribbled down in the various fields, placed the coins necessary for entrance on the form, then slid it all over.

"Thank you sir, and good luck!" she said enthusiastically, to which he bowed his head humbly and said his thanks.

The K'neah applied because his people needed a representative in the city, someone who could make it a bit easier for them to settle there without too many problems. Thus, Krajiinkt left with prayers that it would go over well, for his kind, if nothing else.

Posted all over town...

My Good Citizens of Rhy'Din,

This letter is to advise you all that I plan to run for Governor in this year's election. I would very much appreciate your votes because let's face it, I've slept with most of you and those I haven't slept with, I stole your men from you.

After seven centuries you still can't get rid of me and I love you all too much to leave. If you can't beat em...join em.

So do the right thing come election time, huh?

Vote for me, Tara Rynieyn!

Sincerely

The Queen of Hearts

In a late afternoon press conference, a reasonable collection of reporters had gathered around a podium, preparing their cameras and notepads for the information to come. When Sinjin Fai walked up to the podium, he was dressed typically: all black attire, somewhat groomed goatee and scruff with his hair tied back. He paused, observing the crowd before a curl of a grin grew and he began to speak:

"My dear people of Rhy'din,

It's that time again: the elections for a leader we'll probably all question the sanity of and then wonder why they're packing up and leaving halfway through the year. Here, my lovely ladies and gentlemen, I offer you a solution that many of us have been searching for —

My name is Sinjin Fai and my goal is to become governor in order to eliminate the position, leaving this place as it ought to be: self-governing, chaotic, and the way we all love it.

So if you want this position gone for good, write my name on the ballot and I'll meet you in the handbasket to hell.

Cheers!"

Sin moved back from the podium under a hail of questions he didn't feel like answering, whistling as he shoved his hands in his pockets. It was going to be a long, interesting ride of Rhy'din and Sinjin Fai.

The paper airplane sailed through the Rhy'din sky. Bobbing and weaving and swaying this way and that in a manner that suggested it was held aloft by more than simple air currents. It traced a path between buildings before finally gliding through an open window at the central offices of Rhy'dins governmental complex.

Once inside it floated gently onto the desk of a nearby clerk, coming to a stop upon a piece of parchment currently being perused by the now-affronted individual. He was prepared to toss it away when some decoration upon the wings caught his eye and caused him to unfold it.

"Dear sir." It read.

"I wish, at this time, to make it known to these esteemed city offices of my intentions to enter the race for the position of Governor. For any and all questions regarding this announcement, I can be found at my restaurant.

Thank you for your time, Corlanthis Wystansayr."

Just below the signature appeared to be an RU stamped into wax, that upon further investigation was revealed to be some spilled omelette batter.

The announcement that Matthew Algiers Simon sought a second term as Rhydin's Governor made its way into the public eye by way of Vidnet and newspaper, though early leaks of that information had already been circulating for some time.

As he had done in the previous election, the Governor issued a statement wishing the other candidates well in their campaigns while also encouraging all citizens to cast their votes either on election day or by early ballot.
