A portal appeared in an unknown land...unknown except to the caster. As a particular group from Ravensheart Academy stepped through the portal, they would find themselves walking on wet sand. The waves lapped slowly along the shore at a distance not so far away, yet too far to see through the thick unnatural fog...all of perhaps twenty feet at best.
The daylight was not there, darkened by the lack of sunlight caused by natural means. Wherever they were, they weren't in RhyDin anymore. It was the middle of the night. The only thing illuminating the place was the tall tell signs of a full moon above hidden behind the wisps of a cloudy sky. The light of it permeated the fog, creating a soft glow. The ground was clear, though, nothing but the hard, wet sand beneath their feet.
Sha'uri waited until those coming had gone through the portal before she stepped through with the rest and closed it up tight.
"Please, come this way....One more portal and we'll be there."
She walked towards the sound of the water until she found the shore. It seemed more like the shore of a great lake. Then she seemed to turn right and walked along the water for nearly a fifty yards until they came to a rocky formation with a pier along side it. Here there were a few lanterns lit and set along the pier. A few row boats and canoes were tied to it. Odd, it was the only structure visible around. Yet there wasn't anyone around save for this group. She took a few steps up onto the pier and moved until she was even with about the third boat. Then she opened a portal again right in the path of stepping into that boat.
Through the portal was a living room brightly decorated like a beach house. Daylight filtered through the window while an image of Sha'uri, dressed in a black tank top and matching sweatshorts with her hair up in a pony tail, moved around the place happily as she seemed to be cleaning it up. It was a very strong programmed illusion of her designed to make people think she was there. The image could even interact and greeted everyone with a smile and "Hello!" as they came in. Other then this, the image kept about the task of cleaning.
Once everyone was through, Sha'uri closed the portal and motioned to the chairs, couches and recliners around the room.
"Just so you know, we're back in RhyDin at my beach house. It's on the North side of the shore next to the bridge. And in times like these....now I'm glad I programmed me to really clean. Othewise, we'd be walking into a dust bowl. I hardly come here anymore..."
Sha'uri smirked and dismissed the illusion. One of her was quite enough.
"We should be safe enough here to conduct our discussion and planning. In fact, it would stand to reason the base would be at Ravensheart, which is why I would rather make this our base of operations instead. They wouldn't expect it which would help keep our plans from discovery. Outside are several of my Citadel guards and the place is protected from intrusions by both magical and technological means. The only reason the portal worked was because of the contingency placed that it was from me. Please make yourself comfortable and don't be shy if you need something."
She finally sat down in a recliner and breathed deeply a sigh of some relief.
"Now, where were we?"
