"You see, the thing about the past is, it haunts you, some say they've come to terms with it, but in the end, its there, and it never changes. Some lose themselves in the moment, or focus on the future, to try and escape what they've done in the past, but in the end, what?s done is done, and there's no changing that, it'll come back full circle one way or another, and for better, or for worse, your past, will get you back," the old police officer informed Stefan, who was once again in the back seat of a police cruiser. Stefan rolled his eyes the entire time, old people, especially cops, always thought they new everything.

"Yeah, so they keep on tellin" me," he grumbled, really getting tired of hearing this old man rant on and on about things he thought were nonsensical.

"Y"know Stefan, you're a good kid, you're smart as Hell, y'shouldn't be wastin" your time with punks like Timothy "n" his lot, y"know, in a few more years, next time you're in the cruiser, you're not gonna be taken home," the old man replied to a young Stefan, who wrinkled his nose in return.

"Punks" Tim's a cool guy, him "n" the guys are fun, there's nothin" wrong with what we do, just a bit "o' fun is all," Stefan shot back.

"Fun"Stefan, Tim, he's smart too, but in the way you are, he knows how smart you are, "n" he knows how na've too, he's gonna be the death "o' ya one day, mark my words kid," was the response from the cop in the front seat, just as the cruiser slowed to a halt outside of Stefan's home.

"Yeah, whaddever," the young man replied as the officer slipped out of his seat, and moved around to open Stefan's door, and escort him to the home.

A few sharp raps on the door were answered by an angry scowl from Stefan's father as he wrenched the portal open and spotted Stefan and the officer. ?"Lo Fred," Stefan's father, Steven, greeted the old man.

?"Ello Steve, Stefan "ere, he's alright, go easy on "em will ya" He's just gotta learn is all," Fred replied, which had Stefan wrinkling his nose in response, as if he didn't need help from the old man.

Steve nodded stiffly to the old officer, and then gripped Stefan by the shoulder, and ushered him inside. "Stefan, go t"bed, we'll talk in the mornin"," Stefan's father quietly informed him.

With a reluctant nod, the young Stefan headed toward the stairs, and started up into his room. The front door closed as his father walked out to talk to Fred about what all happened this time?this time, it wasn't the first, and as Stefan thought about it, it probably wouldn't be the last.

As he entered his room, the first thing he noticed, as that his father had apparently gone through, and taken everything of value, then hid it away. With a frustrated sigh, he hauled himself onto the small bed in the corner of the room, kicked off his shoes, and stared at the ceiling.
