Of A White Lady: Following Fiona O"Neill

According to folklore, a White Lady is a ghost-like woman dressed in white haunting an area or family, unable to move on from her own tragedy. There are many similarities between White Ladies and the Banshees of myth. Whether she is a banshee, a White Lady, a fallen angel, a lovelorn muse, or anything else that can never truly be defined by simple ideas of man, Fiona's stories have been filled with moments of great joy and terrible tragedy. Although her location has changed throughout her years and past lives, Fiona has become a blend of these stories, one life amounting to countless experiences, for better or worse.

This is a small collection of Fiona's stories. This will be continually added to, and edited, as Fiona's stories progress. Stories from her past will also continue to be revealed. "Stories of a Banshee" - Began July 2011. Approximately 2,000 words so far. These bits and pieces of stories give small insights into Fiona's past before coming to Rhydin. The first story tells the tale of the day of her death. The day of her wedding, she was accused of being a witch and her peers sentenced her to be stoned to death. Her fianc" came to rescue her, but it was not enough. What happened after will live on in her memory for eternity, and that was merely the beginning for the banshee. More stories will continue to be added from Fiona's past.

Joining Bristle Crios - Once arriving in Rhydin, Fiona joined the small community of Bristle Crios. The Bristle Crios compound, sitting in the central northern woods above the Marketplace in the Battlefield Park District, is a safe haven for any and all beings of any race with any abilities. The Seven Houses in the compound provide large libraries to study as well as large work spaces for craftsmen and scientific minds. Many others learn and work at The Academy of Bristle Crios on the grounds. Fiona took on the role as the one seeing the day-to-day items that needed to be done. She would only see herself as a glorified secretary. She would also help out on occasion by welcoming in new members of Bristle Crios.

Adopting Her Daughters - One of the new people Fiona met in Rhydin was The Shade. He began to court her. She began to care for him and his two adopted daughters; Nikia, a teenage vampire, and Smoke, a demon assassin. When he proposed, Fiona happily accepted, hoping to fill the void of the love and family she felt like she was missing ever since coming to Rhydin. Not long after their engagement, he revealed another side of himself, destroying the man she once knew. Although the engagement was ended, Fiona adopted the girls she grew to love.

"Tales of One Confused Girl" - November 2011, written with Nikia. Approximately 2,500 words. Nikia took Fiona to her village where she grew up. She showed Fiona her home that she once shared with her family, before the village was raided. She opened up about her terrible memories of her and her family's suffering and deaths. Fiona sang a prayer for Nikia's family and they returned to their home together at Bristle Crios. (Read more of Nikia's stories, including "A Father's Love, A Daughter's Hesitance" written with Kristoph Knightfall, "On Delicate Matters" written with Drake Thorne, and "Exchange with the Past".) Nikia would go on to marry Jesse. Although Nikia is believed to be deceased, Fiona holds out hope that she will be able to see her once again.

"They" - December 2011, written with Weiss. Approximately 1,500 words. While out in the marketplace, Fiona ran into someone looking for Weiss. She took the man back to Bristle Crios to find him. Once there, Weiss identified the man as his Commanding Officer from his home planet of Trydia. The man was sent to find Weiss and return him to his post in the planet's military. Weiss refused go with him. He was making a life for himself in Rhydin and he was not about to abandon his new home and family so easily. (Read more of Weiss's stories documenting his arrival to Rhydin, "The Red Squadron Incident" and "The Arrival".) Weiss went on to marry Smoke, Fiona's adopted daughter. Together, they would have a son, Berith. Eventually, Weiss would return to Trydia to work things out with the military. He is now considered a retired potential officer where, in case of war, he can be called back to Trydia to fight, but he will no longer have to remain in active service away from his family. He brought Smoke and Berith with him for a vacation to see his home planet. They often make trips between Trydia and Rhydin.

"Ex Memoria: From Memory" - April 2012, written with Knightfall. Approximately 15,500 words. Thirteen banshees came to Bristle Crios seeking someone they knew from their past. They reached out to Fiona, one of their kind, but she was not able to help them. She knew nothing of the one they called Kristoph because she knew him by another name, Knightfall. She had only met him once before when she invited him to stay at the safe haven of Bristle Crios. Ainslie and the other twelve left empty handed, still continuing on in their search.

Later, Fiona was in her office when she felt the pain of death. She rushed to its source and found Knightfall, one of the members she welcomed to Bristle Crios, moments from death. While inside his chambers, she had learned his name, Kristoph, and realized he was the one the banshees sought. She tried to help, but her efforts proved fruitless. He died before her; his last words in a letter to her. A gateway opened in his room and she went inside, hoping to do one last thing in his honor. Walking through the gateway, Fiona found herself in a strange abbey. Wandering through obscurities, she made her way to a large crystalline rose and met an even stranger entity, Omega. Using the crystalline Final Myriad, he showed her countless scenes from differing realities, all focused on Kristoph. When she sought out the one view remaining, she and Omega became almost present in the scene. She began to walk towards where Kristoph waited.

Fiona went to Kristoph, but he did not recognize her. Once she had spoken his name, he began to remember her, but it wasn't the name the banshees had called him, it was the name she called him " Knightfall. It wasn't until her Memoria myriad activated that he fully remembered not only the life he had just lost, but lifetimes beyond, as did she. Fiona fell through the looking glass once more to meet Urdru, who proposed a bargain. She could reinstate Kristoph's life, but he would have to live out what time he had left as a mortal. His proposal was merely a test and he informed her that all she had to do was simply hold him in order to go back with him. When she was returned to him, she clung to him. Together, they returned to where they had started, Kristoph's chambers, where they continued to hold each other tightly.

"Heartflight by Moonlight" - May 2012, written with Knightfall and Nikia. Approximately 2,500 words. Kristoph, Fiona, and Nikia abandoned the crowded masquerade ball of Beltane to spend some time together. Kristoph expressed his regret of not being able to dance with them. Nikia offered the suggestion to dance while Fiona sang. Always afraid of any spotlight, Fiona reluctantly agreed. She began to sing a loving melody while they danced. Kristoph subtly asked for Nikia's blessing and she eagerly granted him permission. Once they finished their dance and Fiona ended her song, Nikia suggested Kristoph and Fiona dance. As they did, Fiona's song continued around them as a faint memory. Their brief dance was interrupted as Kristoph got to one knee and proposed. Before her daughter and the full Beltane moon on May 5th, 2012, Fiona happily accepted.

Loving and Losing Kristoph - On July 21st, 2012 Kristoph Arknight Of House Knightfall forever joined Fiona O"Neill in Holy Matrimony. By the time autumn set in, he had disappeared without a word. Always one to keep to herself, Fiona isolated herself even more within the compound of Bristle Crios. She wondered if something happened to him, if he was in trouble or hurt, and if he was trying to get back to her. She questioned if he left her. Since she had already brought him back from the dead, why would he need her anymore" But why would he marry her, only to abandon her" Was she incapable of being loved? She replayed every memory, wondering what she had done wrong. Half of her heart was trying to heal and move on, but half hoped that he would one day return to her.

History of the Lost - November 2012, written with Kabuto. Approximately 4,500 words. A new member of Bristle Crios, Kabuto, had isolated himself within the compound, spending most of his time in the libraries and his room. He left a data recording for Fiona. Upon viewing it, she learned the history of his planet and the suffering of his people. She went to go see him to check up on him and ask him about the recordings. When she went to his room, she gravitated to a crystal on his desk. Upon touching it, she absorbed even more knowledge and memories, but through the eyes of the monster. Fiona would have to come to terms with the things she witnessed, and would have to leave Kabuto to deal with his demons in his own way, in his own time.

"Queen of the Coven" - December 2012, written with Miranda Branson, Angel of Death, and Kruger. About 8,500 words. Morgan Doyle, leader of the coven Bristle Crios, was out working as his fianc", Miranda, finished baking with their adopted daughter, Angel, in their home on the Bristle Crios grounds. As Miranda went to get Angel's bath ready, she ran into Bree McCaid, who had been in love with Morgan. Bree attacked Miranda, who fended her off long enough for Angel to escape, appearing before Fiona as she worked in her office in Demon House. Fiona grabbed Angel and kept her in her arms while she went around the coven to sound the alarm. Security alerted Morgan to the danger. Even the Academy was on the highest alert. One of the daycare staff, Kruger, instantly knew something was wrong with Miranda and Angel when he saw Angel's loyal wolfhound desperately searching for her.

As the hound tore off looking for Miranda, Morgan and Kruger rushed to keep up. Eventually both men found Miranda hanging from a tree, being slowly tortured by Bree. While Morgan took Bree head on in battle, Kruger grabbed Miranda, freeing her. In the scuffle, Bree drove a blade between Morgan's ribs in the efforts to kill him and bring him back a vampire, like she. While Morgan was down, he asked Kruger to do what he was unable. With the fall of his hammer, Kruger delivered the death blow to Bree. In his final moment, Morgan wished Miranda to be strong, and she made him that pledge. Kruger picked up Morgan's body and Miranda walked with him back to the Houses. Eventually, Miranda would greet Angel and accept the responsibility of the leader of Bristle Crios. (Read more about the "Funeral and Memorial of Morgan Doyle" and the conversion of their home into the Bristle Crios "Welcome Center".)

"Level Footing" - March 2013, written with Renna. Approximately 5,000 words. As Fiona was suffering from the disappearance of Kristoph, Renna was also in pain after the disappearance of her fianc", Kaius. Renna went to plant some of her roses from her Secret Garden to outside the Eternal House entrance at Bristle Crios. As she did, Fiona watched. Fiona had chosen to retreat to her invisible mists, while Renna hid inside a bottle. Scotch, vodka, it didn't seem to matter. Fiona approached Renna while she planted and both women began to open up about their missing loves and other revelations from their lives. The roses were not the only things that began to grow in a new light that day. (Read more of Renna's stories, including "The Bloodstone Dichotomy", "Visceral Fear", and "Legacy of Pain/Destined Misery".)

"Rhy'Din Wishing Trees in Bloom" - May, 2013. Approximately 100 words, as follows. The Clandestine Order of Seraphim offered a way to honor the memory of family and friends loved and lost. Fiona decided to come out of her seclusion at Bristle Crios to tie a yellow ribbon around a tree. "Fiona thought long and hard before writing on the yellow ribbon. It wasn't hard for her to decide whose name to write. It was hard to write it at all. Writing the name would acknowledge that he was no longer with her, a truth she wanted to continue to deny herself. She would not lie to herself anymore. She silently prayed that, wherever he was, he was safe and happy, and hoped that he would one day return to her. She wrote one word on the ribbon, softly kissed it, and tied it loosely to a tree. "Knightfall??.

"Renewal" - December 2013, written with Knightfall. Approximately 4,000 words. After a year long absence, Kristoph returned to Rhydin. As he made his way back to Bristle Crios, he contemplated what sent him away for so long, the search for his missing brother. After his long journey, he knocked on the Demon House door, where Fiona answered, much to the surprise of them both. They stayed up talking for most of the night while he explained his absence. They talked every night after, trying to build the strength and trust of their previous relationship. One night, he returned to her what he had found while away " a simple yellow ribbon with his name written in it in her hand. (Read about Kristoph's time away, but still near her, in "Indivisible".)

"Musings of a Banshee" - Began February 2014. Approximately 3,000 words so far. These are a small collection of personal thoughts from Fiona. It is a different take on other characters" journal threads, which serve as the inspiration for this thread. They begin as Fiona considers Kristoph's return and the pain she still has to deal with from the time lost. From her dreams and nightmares to her daily encounters, each entry contains a quote and an image to round out the personal reflection. More entries will continue to be added from Fiona's perspective.

"Drawn Through the Wind" - May 2014, written with Ryna. Approximately 10,500 words. An elf named Ryna made her way through the forest on her mare, Neona, and happened upon the Bristle Crios compound. Fiona, coming from the gardens, caught sight of her first and offered her a tour of one of the houses. After settling Neona, Fiona took Ryna through one of the houses, explaining the dynamics of each of the houses and the entire grounds. Contented with the surroundings, Ryna decided to stay the night in one of the rooms as a guest, so she could explore the grounds more in depth the next day. (Read Ryna's story before she arrived at the gates of Bristle Crios, In Heaven or Hell.)

"Give Up the Ghost" - February 2015. Approximately 3,500 words so far. This is a work in progress piece to help express some of Fiona's back story. In the piece, Fiona goes on one of her walks, this time venturing far off the Bristle Crios grounds. Taking a trip down memory lane, she reminisces about the major and minor events in her life that made her who she is today. Beginning with her life on the small island of Tory off the coast of Ireland, she remembers her first love and their untimely deaths. Next, giving insights into her initial experiences as a banshee, she will recount coming into her abilities, for better and worse.

"Through Light and Shadow" - February 2015, written with Shea Greenstone. Approximately 2,500 words. As Fiona was going on one of her walks outside of the Bristle Crios grounds, she ran into Shea Greenstone. Shea was returning from a great battle in her homeland of Edhel Ndor. Upon seeing Fiona, she was reminded of a red haired fire mage that had attacked her, bringing the flood of combat memories back. It took some time and reassurance, but eventually Fiona was able to ease Shea's concerns. They introduced themselves and Fiona invited her to stop by Bristle Crios whenever she would like to check it out. (Read more about Shea GreenStone in her forum, A Greenstone Tale.)

"The Hallowed Manor" - May 2015, written with Zynisch Lucis. Approximately 3,000 words. Fiona was working in her office at Eternal House at Bristle Crios. She felt a malicious, otherworldly presence enter onto the grounds. Not long after, she was greeted by an armored figure that introduced himself as Yakumo. Zynisch Lucis, member of Eternal House at Bristle Crios and professor at the Academy of Bristle Crios, emerged from the armor in an incorporeal ghostly spirit form. He asked if Fiona was aware of any way to re-forge a body or perform human transmutation. She offered a few names of experts in their field. Satisfied with the aid, Zynisch and Yakumo went on their way. (Read about Yakumo's beginning in The Gathering.)

More stories will continue to be added as they develop and conclude...
