It couldn't have been more than a couple of months since the good doctor had become engaged twice over, and yet the time had flown by in a tense daze, riddled with phone calls that included arguments over prices, locations, and dates. And yet, here the wedding coordinator was, the day of the wedding, standing in the chosen venue with a clipboard in hand and watching her vision unfold before her.
"Hey' hey! Use two hands on that! It breaks, you are not getting paid!" Sivanna barked at a hired worker entering the Great Hall with a crystal vase toted over his shoulder like a basketball. With a sigh, he complied, muttering some colorful indignities under his breath of the cleric's abrasive disposition.
Despite her keen Elvish sense of hearing, Sivanna ignored it. She had every right to be coarse. It was how things got done— especially on a day like this. Everything about today needed to be perfect. And so far, it was.
By nightfall, the winter wonderland would look like something out of a fairy tale. What better place to hold a wedding of this caliber than in Rhy"Din"
Outside, barely budding, white-barked sakura trees proved columns for a living, gaping archway into the Hall. Tangles of twisted branches spiraled up and arched over a white velvet runner into the building. Solid ice formed a perfect dome for the structure, gluing the branches together and assuring that the guests arriving would be protected from the elements— carriage to cake table.
Upon entry, the guestbook would be to the immediate right, on a fur-covered side table, complete with several silver fountain pens.

The velvet runner proceeded into the forwardmost depths of the Hall, severing rows and rows of white pews all the way to the altar. Pew bouquets were secured to each bench— colorful purple tiger lilies, white orchids, and sprigs of mint bundled together in white satin ribbon. The smell alone was staggering— a fresh, crisp aroma that coincided all too well with the chilly winter theme.
The altar itself thrived with life— a crystal curtain backdrop adorned with hanging strands of elegant white phalaenopsis orchids, and interspersed with tiny purple tiger lilies. A pair of crystal sakura trees held the curtain in an arch by their branches, giving the shrine the look of a kind of magical weeping willow. Lights embedded into the trunks of the sculptures let on a dim, constant glow. Who knew" maybe there were real fairies inside, eager to observe the beginning of a new life that evening.
Not far from the event area, the reception was already set up.

Crystal chandeliers hung from gossamer-curtained ceilings. The lighting was in muted blues, lilacs, and dim yellows, reminiscent of an early winter sunset as it reflected across the snow. Frosty silver chairs were tucked into linen-tableclothed plateaus, brimming with fine glassware, napkins in white, emerald green and violet, and excellent silverware. Twisted sculptures of glass were interspersed with frosted, votive candles and bricks of actual ice serving as vases for orchid bouquets.

In every placement was a simple, cardboard favor box:

And each was stuffed with tiny, silver-dusted pinecones and an original sculpted piece.

It was indeed as Sivanna had imagined. Just a few more minor adjustments, and it would be perfect.
Sliding her hand into her pocket, Sivanna removed her cellular phone and dialed a number.
After a few rings, someone picked up.
"Neo' It's me. The cakes are arriving in an hour. Do you think you could make it here in two to finish the setup?"
A pause.
"Great. I'll see you then."
Two hours. Two hours was all she had to make the innumerable final arrangements, dress her friends, get dressed up herself, meet the guests, and ensure that the entire night went off without a hitch.
What was she doing standing there daydreaming" It was time to WORK!
