Town Hall Meeting summary for 11/20/2014 -

The first item brought up was a proposal by Kruger regarding the Jewell Ravenlock Community Center. This building, once a proud monument to one of Rhydin's most notable citizens, has sadly fallen into disrepair and is no longer structurally safe. Since the deed to that property was given to Kruger by the Ravenlocks some timg ago, he has the right to do with it what he will, but he has proposed that the building be taken down and the property converted into an open air community park, with monuments to education including a central spire as a tribute to the "universal language" of mathematics.

This would be given to the city for public use, in return for assistance from the community to make it happen. Aja Bird has already offered help from her construction teams, but all help is welcomed. Please contact the Governor's Office or Kruger directly if you would like to participate.

Winterfest planning was the other major topic of discussion for the evening. The Governor's Yule Ball will be held on Saturday, 12/13, at Stardreamer Manor just north of the city, with food organized by Colleen MacLeod-Fenner and drinks provided by Aja Bird. There will also be a raffle for donated prizes, with all proceeds going to the orphanages and foster homes of Rhydin.

Other activities proposed for the Winterfest celebration include: - a city-wide "Secret Santa" gift exchange - "Snow Day" with a snow sculpture promenade around the Marketplace and a Snowball Challenge hosted by Race - sledding runs and snow slides throughout Winterfest - "Festival of Lights and Song" featuring lit trees and caroling - for the adults, a "Bad Santa's Ball" at Ampersand An office for Winterfest planning will be open in the Rhydin Town Hall tomorrow.

Finally, it was decided that recordings of future Town Hall Meetings would be audio-only, after some discussion.

February's Town Hall Meeting is late, but will take place on Monday evening, 2/23 at 8pm.

Come on over to the Town Hall and sit a spell with the Governor! He'll be providing dinner (homemade spaghetti—with and without meat, garlic bread, and wine or juice)

April's Town Hall Meeting will be held on Wednesday, 4/22 at 9pm Rhydin Time. ((Location: RDI Great Hall))

- Governor Ilnaren will reveal the roadway repair schedule for the coming months. Please note that this will not be the same schedule that had originally proposed by the honest businessmen of the Rhydin Road Commission, as an investigation found them not to be. Honest, that is.

- Thorn has raised a proposal to purchase and donate a number of lots currently occupied by empty buildings, former businesses and abandoned houses. This land would be converted into a community park including a pond and brook, wooded grove, children's playground and more.

- In addition, there will be discussion—or at least promotion, if Jewell is not in attendance—of the events planned for Beltane.

The next Rhydin Town Hall meeting will be held this Thursday, 7/16 at 9pm on the Eastern Clock. (9pm ET, Red Dragon's Great Hall)
