The Shanachie Theatre is proud to present the opening of The Shanachie Classical Ballet Company, under the direction of renown premier danseur Anthony De Luca.

Open auditions for the ballet company will be held on Sunday, February 3rd, at the Black Cat Yoga and Dance Studio at Zen Gardens in the WestEnd. Ballet auditions are intended for classically trained dancers with performance experience with a professional company or school. All dancers must bring a completed registration form (see below), resume, and dance photo. This is an open audition for the company for both men and women. Registration begins at 9 a.m. Women should be prepared to dance en pointe. Compensation will be negotiated according to experience.

This is the only open audition date that the Ballet Company will be holding. If you are unable to attend this audition, you may request a private audition by sending a letter of introduction stating that you have a conflict with the open audition date. Please include the registration form, along with a resume, photograph, and a performance DVD. All correspondence should be sent to Company Director, Anthony De Luca, c/o The Shanachie Theater.

A list will be posted of all accepted applicants the week of February 10th. You will be expected to attend rehearsal for the premiere production of Romeo and Juliet, starting February 18th at 9 a.m. No exceptions. The production will open on March 18th and run through March 31st.

Lauren had been thrilled when she'd heard about the open auditions. She'd been trying to find a way to break into the ballet scene in her new home of Rhy'Din but had so far been unsuccessful, assuming she just didn't know the right people yet. The notice had caught her attention immediately, stopping her in her tracks as she'd been passing by with a coffee and a crinkled bag of groceries. It had brightened her day considerably and she'd immediately cleared her schedule for the appointed day. She was absolutely going to this audition.

Given a heads up by a contact at the NYCB, Jamie pulled a few strings and did a little begging to get the information as to how he could reach Rhy'Din in time for the auditions being held at the Shanachie Theater. He had a feeling he wouldn't stand a chance if he auditioned for the Rhy'Din Ballet Troupe, so well established and possessed of stars in their own right. But maybe, if he could get a place at the Shanachie, he'd be able to make a little mark of his own.
